Medicare PPS Cost Report Analysis
Hansen,
Hunter & Company has spent a substantial amount of time and energy compiling
a comprehensive PPS analysis to accompany the Medicare cost reports.
In order to complete this analysis, we need to receive your Medicare
billing logs (Medicare days, routine and ancillary charges by resident) with
a RUG III category for each entry. The
analysis will include the following schedules: Schedule
1 (Recap):
This schedule compares the average reimbursement days, rates, fully
absorbed cost and variable cost with the prior year. Schedule 2 (Full Cost RUGs Analysis): This schedule calculates a profit/loss for each RUG III category utilized using fully absorbed (total) costs, the current blended rates and a "what if" using the federal only rates. Schedule
3 (Variable Cost RUGs Analysis): This
schedule calculates a profit/loss for each RUG III category utilized using
variable costs (fixed costs removed), the current blended rates and a "what
if" using the federal only rates. Schedule
4 (Variable Therapy Cost RUGs Analysis):
This schedule is in the same format as Schedule 3 but considers only
therapy cost. Schedule
5 (Variable Non-Case-mix Cost RUGs Analysis):
This schedule is in the same format as Schedule 3 but considers only
non-therapy ancillary cost. Schedule
6 (Analysis of Therapy Minutes Provided):
This schedule analyzes therapy minutes provided compared to the minimum
required, both by resident and by RUG III category, for the year. Schedule 7 (Analysis of Gain/Loss by Medicare Beneficiary): This schedule presents the gain/loss by Medicare beneficiary in order of RUG III category. Schedule
8 (Analysis of Gain/Loss by Medicare Beneficiary):
This schedule presents the same information as Schedule 7, only it is in
alphabetical order by resident name.
