Legislation Introduced to Eliminate the Remaining "Medicare Cliff"
May 2002
The Medicare Skilled Nursing Beneficiary Protection Act of 2002 (S. 2490), cosponsored by Sen. Gordon Smith (R-OR), Robert Torricelli (D-NJ) and Blanche Lincoln (D-AR), would incorporate the add-ons in the Balanced Budget Refinement Act of 1999 and the Beneficiary Improvement and Protection Act of 2000. It would eliminate the scheduled 0.5 percent reduction to the SNF market basket, providing full market basket updates going forward, according to the American Health Care Association. |
