A
few years ago, Hansen, Hunter & Company added Clinical Nurse Consulting to the
services we provide to our long-term care clients. This was in response to the direction we saw the industry
moving in terms of Medicare PPS and Medicaid Case-Mix reimbursement systems.
Our RNs spend most of their time on-site at our clients’
facilities reviewing and evaluating systems and teaching PPS/MDS to care teams,
managers, administrators and physicians.

objective is to assist clients in understanding, completing and documenting the
patient assessment instrument correctly in order to obtain the appropriate
reimbursement under Medicare PPS and Medicaid case-mix.
Integral to this is ongoing training and education of care team and MDS
staff.
