October 27, 2023

CMS has updated the MDS 3.0 Quality Measure Manual related to changes due to the 10-1-2023 MDS updates. The end of Section G ADLs has impacted multiple Quality Measures. In addition to those impacted by Section G’s removal, other QMs were also updated. This presentation will focus on the newly updated MDS 3.0 Quality Measures along with the impact on the 5-Star Quality Rating program.

This webinar will also provide basic information about MDS 3.0 Quality Measures, including: stay vs. episode, long stay vs. short stay, look-back scan, assessments used for calculating the QMs, numerator, denominator, exclusions and covariates. Once the basics have been covered, the presentation will focus on the newly updated MDS 3.0 Quality Measures and the impact these changes can have on the 5-Star Quality Rating system as well as survey implications.

Learning Objectives:
1. List the four new late-loss ADLs.
2. State 2 MDS 3.0 Quality Measures that required significant changes due to the change in ADL coding from Section G to Section GG.
3. Report 2 MDS 3.0 Quality Measures that were changed from high-risk or low-risk to include all residents due to the MDS updates.
